>Greg_Golding: EOOZ 8G OOZE +26 26
>Arie_Sinke: ACCEILU I6 CU. +15 15
#note This is a rather dull and uninspiring way to start a tournament - but it's right. No reason to even consider anything else.
>Greg_Golding: DEIT K8 DIET +25 51
>Arie_Sinke: ACEHILS 6D CHALI.ES +69 84
#note This is my first error and missed bingo of the tournament. CALICHES in the same spot scores 6 more by tripling the H. I had forgotten that CALICHE was a word and that CHALICE had an anagram.
>Greg_Golding: IJNO K2 JOIN. +24 75
>Arie_Sinke: AAMPRVY J10 MARVY +39 123
#note I missed a huge play here - PYJAMA 2I for 56! Much better than my play.
>Greg_Golding: EEEEEEE -EEEEE +0 75
#note Greg exchanged 5.
>Arie_Sinke: AEIMNOP D6 .AMPION +32 155
#note This may or may not be better than simply playing OPA 5E for 26 (the other 5E options like APE and OPE are worse than OPA). I like trying to draw a blank and taking out some of the most flexible bingo lanes with a lead here.
>Greg_Golding: AEEELT 13G ELE.ATE +24 99
>Arie_Sinke: DEFGKNV N10 VEND +28 183
#note Tough position; none of my options really accomplish everything I want to do. I liked how VEND makes bingoing in the southeast basically impossible while getting rid of the worst troublemaker of the heavy consonants (the V). FLED H12 seems to sim better, probably because it scores 8 more points. I looked at FLED and E11 KEF for 34 and just couldn't get myself into a position where I was keeping 4 consonants including the V when I could keep 3 not including the V. I still like VEND but am open to other options.
>Greg_Golding: DQU 11B QU.D +28 127
>Arie_Sinke: EFGKLOY H11 FO.KY +48 231
#note This is my only serious option.
>Greg_Golding: DOU B11 .UOD +28 155
>Arie_Sinke: EEGLRRS 8A GER. +21 252
#note I did not care for the fact that GERM opens up a G and and E to bingo through. Unfortunately, I can't say no to it because it's much better for equity than any other play. I looked at VENDER and LEHR E4 and wasn't thrilled with them.
>Greg_Golding: BBO A13 BOB +28 183
>Arie_Sinke: EILLRRS 2K .ILL +22 274
#note This is fine; setting up the S isn't great but anything else is a massive equity sacrifice.
>Greg_Golding: AEINRST O2 STAINER +86 269
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEGRRS B2 GREASi.R +70 344
#note Missing REARGuES in the same spot for four extra points.
>Greg_Golding: ATW C13 WAT +32 301
>Arie_Sinke: AHINORX 9G XI +36 380
#note XENIA 4A for 40 is a massive improvement - scores a bit more and blocks the majority of the bingo lanes that are a threat to me. Hard to overstate how bad this play is.
>Greg_Golding: AFT A3 AFT +23 324
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEHNOR 10F HO +23 403
#note At this point I would like to bingo myself so I'm giving up a few points to avoid obstructing bingos through the I in JOINS with OH/AH at 5E. Quackle concurs. I can't lose here.
>Greg_Golding: EGNPU M1 P.UNGE +18 342
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEINRS E1 INARc.ES +80 483
#note This is a 20 point spread improvement over the obvious bingos from the G.
>Arie_Sinke: (ITW) +12 495
